Last updated January 20th, 2009 6:50 AM ET---Today, U.S. stock futures are trading lower as skittish investors eye further financial sector turmoil in overseas markets. The financial sector will remain in the spotlight as investors keep a watchful eye on further government intervention, this time in Europe, as the UK government stepped in with a second bailout plan and upped its stake in RBS from 58% to 70%. The Royal Bank of Scotland (NYSE:RBS) didn't help matters when it warned it may lose up to $42 billion in '08 following writedowns. Companies of note reporting earnings today include Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), Forest Laboratories (NYSE:FRX) and following Tuesday's close, IBM (NYSE:IBM).
