Today, the owner of Supercuts and Vidal Sassoon hair salons, Regis Corp. (NYSE:RGS), announced plans to close 160 of its under performing salons. An estimated 100 of the closings will be mall-based salons, while 40 will be based in strip malls, and another 20 will be in closed in the U.K. The majority of the closings are expected to take place during the first half of its 2009 fiscal year. The company plans to offer employees of the closing stores jobs at other Regis salons close by.
